CONFRONTING COVID-RELATED HATE: STANDING WITH BRITAIN’S CHINESE, EAST & SOUTHEAST ASIAN COMMUNITIES

Confronting COVID-Related Hate will support victims of hate crime and abuse and provide counselling to the London-based members of the network, in partnership with the Chinese Community Health and Wellbeing Services. The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund Grant and the London Funders Community Response Fund.

Confronting COVID-Related Hate will work with 21 British Chinese, East, and Southeast Asian community organizations to:

  • Support victims of hate crime and abuse

  • Provide counselling, in partnership with the Chinese Community Health and Wellbeing Services

  • Increase understanding among British Chinese, East, and Southeast Asian community members of what hate crime is and how to report it

  • Build on existing best practices of community-based hate crime reporting and how organisations can signpost community members to other reporting mechanisms and support victims through prosecution processes.

  • Build sustainable relationships across other community groups, local authorities, police and frontline service providers.
