Southeast and East Asia Community Hub - Phase 3

Since 2021, SEEAC initiated the Community Hub project to strengthen the Southeast and East Asian (ESEA) communities' resilience amidst the Covid-19 pandemic impacts on the general public in the UK. The project has benefited more than 1,000 ESEA community members in the UK through mental health awareness campaign, community support group activities, signposting services, and support from volunteers. In addition to this, our one-on-one mental health counselling services have benefitted 24 people whose mental well-being was affected by various socio-economic and health factors, including survivors of trafficking and domestic abuse.

Starting in July 2023, SEEAC continue the project until June 2027. This continuation has been made possible through the support of The National Lottery Community Fund. The third phase project enables SEEAC to continue responding to requests for advice or counselling from ESEA communities in London and beyond, who face anxiety and other mental health concerns due to multiple factors that affect ESEA communities, including the socio-economic and health impact of Covid-19, the cost of living crisis, immigration, exploitation and discrimination.

Through the Community Hub Phase 3,  SEEAC will provide mental health, social welfare and employment advice, strengthen a referral system to support the ESEA community's needs, convene culturally sensitive support group activities for sharing and caring, and provide one-on-one mental health counselling services. SEEAC collaborates with several ESEA heritage practitioners in the UK, including LeimyotherapyMichaele NagacSujaree, and Talking Counselling that enable the free mental health counselling services to be delivered in Cantonese, English, Mandarin, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese. These impactful actions will ensure greater collaborations with volunteers, networks, and partnerships to support the ESEA communities.

Finally, we welcome all ESEA community members in the UK to participate in and benefit from this project by contacting us through email at info@seeac.org.uk, phone at +447376408975 and follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for future group support activities.
